So I am not going to tell anyone what to do about having and using a microwave. I am actually more looking for some advice on whether or not I should get rid of mine.
It has been 3 years since I graduated from IIN which means it has been about 3 years since I last used my microwave. Wow, I did not even realize it has been that long until I just wrote it down!
For the past few years my microwave has been a storage place. I would put my quinoa, spices, dried fruits, canned items - really anything in the microwave just to have some extra space in my cabinets and things off the counter.
Well today I took some time to empty out my cabinets and get rid of some stuff to make room for a few dishes my grandmother gave me on my last visit. Of course living in an apartment I don't have a ton of space for extra dishes, but I couldn't turn them down.
Anyway, I emptied my cabinets and my microwave-cabinet threw out some items and then I placed everything back in the cabinet. Well now where was I to put the dishes. The dishes mind you that I use to reheat food in the oven as opposed to using a microwave.
Well you know where they went, into the microwave from storage. So as you can see in the picture on the left, I have a large microwave taking up ample space. I do not use it though I seem to save it "just in case I want to make pop corn" mind you I have no popcorn in my apartment and I usually would just pick up a bag at whole foods or grab some pop corners on the occasion I want popcorn.
So here are my questions... do I get rid of the microwave? Do you have one? Do you use it? Have you donated or thrown yours out? Will I ever again find a situation in which the oven or stove will not suffice? Perhaps I am a hoarder...
